Good morning, my friends!
Do you enjoy hiking? I know I do and I absolutely LOVE it! I go as often as I can and love exploring different parks when the opportunity arises. I have only ever hiked during the summer months, when I’m bombarded and attacked by relentless enemies known as mosquitoes. Not that bugs have I ever stopped me from enjoying my hikes but I wondered if hiking in the Fall would offer a more enjoyable experience aka LESS BUGS?!
So for the first time, I went for a hike this weekend with my hiking buddy and awesome friend, Andrea at the Rouge National Urban Park in Toronto (Scarborough). It’s no Algonquin Park or Killarney Park but it was still amazing and serves as an awesome nature escape away from the big city.

I have been to the Rouge before but during the Summer months and the moment we stepped into the trails, I was wowed! The Fall colours are SO beautiful! Hiking during the Summer is really nice too, with the lush green forest and trails but the yellow, orange and red leaves of the trees are so delightful to see! I can’t believe I never ventured out on hikes during the Fall season!!

If you’ve never been to the Rouge, I definitely recommend checking it out! They also offer guided tours if you’re interested in learning more about the biodiversity and conservation in the area. There’s also a really cool app you can download called The Rouge that offers an interactive map and other interesting facts about the trails as you hike! The app is available for both the iOS and Android phones. As for the less bugs part? Yes, there’s definitely less BUT ticks are still around so make sure you bring insect repellent!
Have you been to the Rouge or are planning to now? Let me know about your experiences, I would love to know what you think!
Stay warm, everyone!
