An Evening at the Terra Lumina

Have you ever wondered what travelling into the future would be like? At Toronto Zoo’s light show called Terra Lumina, you can.

According to Toronto Zoo’s website:

On twilight winter evenings at the Toronto Zoo, step through a portal of light into 2099, a time when the world glows with possibility. Humans have learned to live in harmony with nature and wildlife, filling the planet with enchantment. Explore the bright wonders of a thriving future, where hope blossoms all around. Then return to the present with the inspiring secrets of tomorrow.

I was super excited to see this light show when I first heard it will be in Toronto! So of course, I had to go! I figured it would be way more fun to go with friends and family – the more the merrier, right?! Once we settled on a date, off we went – and of course, we HAD to go on one of the coldest days in Toronto….

We arrived earlier than our ticket time but they let us in anyways! Yay for us! There were some really cool displays and the one at the entrance was really cool (it changes colour).

It took us maybe 45 minutes to get through the entire trail which, honestly felt underwhelming. We had expected it to have more light displayed around the trail but there would be lights and then bouts of walking in the dark before the next exhibit. Having said that, the experience with the lights were quite immersive and was really fun.

Was the price tag worth it? For the price, it felt a bit underwhelming but I think something to try if you’ve never been. The lights were incredible – we only wished there were more of it to enjoy!

Have you been to Terra Lumina? What are your thoughts on it?

Until next time,

M
